Chief Estimator

We are seeking a qualified and motivated individual to fill our Chief Estimator role. This position reports directly to the Senior Vice President.

Position Summary

  • Mentors, coaches, and trains the estimating team to execute overall strategy for winning the bid.
  • Participates in pursuit Go/No Go decision making.
  • Reviews and evaluates requests for Estimates and assigns projects to estimating staff.
  • Prepares weekly bid calendar and ensures timely completion of estimates.
  • Reviews all estimates and revisions for completeness and accuracy, prior to issue.
  • Develops and maintains estimating procedures and guidelines and ensures that all estimates are in compliance with the estimating standards of Marker.
  • Critically analyzes bid documents to understand risks and opportunities and articulate those to management.
  • Sets and manages the departmental budget and goals for the year.
  • Develops relationships with key subcontractors and material suppliers.
  • Develops and maintains cost data, including labor and equipment rates, installation methods and production rates. Works closely with Operations teams to evaluate plan versus actual production data.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Necessary Skills

  • Experience using the following systems: Planswift, Procore, Primavera P6, and Building Connected
  • Advanced knowledge in Sage 300 estimating software.
  • Proficient in Office 365.
  • Must be well organized and have structured work habits.
  • Logical, analytical, and detail oriented.
  • The ability to effectively communicate and work well with all types of personalities.

Education and Experience

  • Four (4) year college degree in engineering, construction management or similar preferred.
  • Minimum of 10-15 years of vertical building experience, with at least 7 years of service dedicated to estimating.
  • At least 3 years of experience managing others preferred, but not required.

Primary Location: Bellefontaine, Ohio or Columbus, Ohio
